Check Out FRYE Women’s Julia Stitch Inside Zip Boot

FRYE Women’s Julia Stitch Inside Zip Boot Review

After a long search for tall boots that would fit my skinny calves–I have found them. My calves are 11 1/2-12″ and these are just slightly big. (I adjusted the buckle to slimmer setting.) Plenty of room for skinny jeans and still look good with skirts. The cognac color is very pretty. They seem to run slightly big but narrow. I ordered a 7 1/2-my normal boot size and I have plenty of room in toe. They don’t slip in heel though and I decided to keep so I can wear thicker socks if needed. Only thing I would change is that I wish they had a slightly shorter heel. Still overall comfortable for the heel height with a cushioned instep. If the price goes low enough for other colors, I may be ordering more.

Nike Dunks and Air Jordan – How to Avoid Cheap Imitations

March 9th, 2010 by fryeboots

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Nike is perhaps the most popular brand when it comes to basketball sneakers, this is the main reason why this line of shoes is highly duplicated or imitated, the Air Jordan brand only releases their shoes once every year, they do this in order to keep the value of the shoe as high as possible and make it a collectors item, having said that it is obvious that the availability of such product will not be as high as all other sneakers. The law of demand will obviously common to play because the supply of these shoes is limited and the demand remains quite high which will obviously increase the value of the sneakers.

There are many ways that you can spot a cheap imitation you actually have the product in front of you, if this is not the case then spotting an imitation will be a lot harder nevertheless, there are still several pointers you can use in order to determine the legitimacy of this product, let’s take a look at them:

Materials:

If you go to a store if you actually have the product in front of you, you can inspect the materials which have been used to manufacture the Nike Air Jordan or Nike dunks you are wanting to purchase. If you are buying a pair of Nike sneakers which have plastic on them that you might want to pay close attention to this material because many imitations use cheap plastic which is not as hard and durable as the one used in the original version, they imitation plastic will obviously come apart after a short period of time an even faster if you actually use them to play basketball. When you play a highly intense game such as basketball you are able to truly test the quality and durability of the product you have just purchased, Nike sneakers where specifically manufactured for Michael Jordan who was a very fast player and it is obvious it was such a high speed issues will have to be of the highest quality, otherwise it will come apart.

Availability and price:

As we have previously stated the Nike Air Jordan division only releases these sneakers on a specific date of the year, this keeps a low supply in high demand. It is obvious that the amount of Air Jordans available will not be very high but when you go online and come across a badly designed website which sells Nike shoes you will easily be able to deduct that the product being sold is a fake if the website claims to have thousands in stock and sell them at a very low price. When these sneakers and go on sale their price ranges between 50 and $70 however, according to the version they may go as high as $300+ which is a case of the Air Jordan III.

Another more obvious way to spot the fake is if they use the word replica in the title, if you browse the web in order to buy products then you have surely come across products which claimed to be replicas of items which are usually expensive, it is very common to hear about replicas in the handbag and purse industry; this very same concept seems to be crossing over and invading the footwear industry.

Frye Women’s Engineer 12R Boot Review

Price : $208.00

The quality, the style, the fit and comfort… everything about this boot has made it #1 in my book. I own 5 pairs of boots, and this is by far; my favorite! These boots did not require a “break-in” period, as I wore these boots for the first time today, all day long. I did not end up with blisters or sores. These boots took care of my feet. In my opinion; they run true to size. I wear an 8, but ordered an 8.5, so that I could wear them with thick boot socks. They are perfect! Thank you!

Check Out FRYE Women’s Matilda Button Boot

March 4th, 2010 by fryeboots

FRYE Women’s Matilda Button Boot Review

Price : $447.99

Just a quick warning to those of you who are thinking about buying these boots but are dragging your feet: They have been removed from Frye’s website. Just about every other website that carries them are sold out and are not being restocked. I can only conclude that this style has been retired. Buy them before you kick yourself over it!

I’m a person who thinks boots are expensive. I don’t buy things online that I need to try on. I decided to throw caution to the wind and purchase these from Amazon after lusting after them for months with zero intention to buy. And I. Love. These. Boots.

I’m generally a 9.5 in boots and these were no different. It feels tight in the width (and I never have problems with that) but I have a feeling that it’s just the leather that needs to soften and it’ll be fine. I gotta try real hard to get these zipped but they aren’t uncomfortable when they are finally up. Also, it takes less and less effort to zip every time I wear them. I expect my 16″ calves to fit just fine after the leather softens. Getting them stretched professionally is an option, but I will probably wait and see. When my mother puts these on, she has plenty of room in them and we weigh about the same. I can fit leggings in them, not jeans. But she’d be able to fit jeans no problem. So it just depends on your calves.

I’m a huuge klutz. I destroy shoes on a regular basis. First day wearing these (With no weather treatment or anything on them) I dripped water on them on didn’t notice for a few minutes, dropped wet coffee grounds on them, and scuffed them by hitting the toe on a concrete step. Totally can’t tell a thing. The scuff was the only thing that actually did anything to the boots and you can’t see it unless it’s in your face because of the natural color variations in the leather. And even if it is in your face it looks like it should be there. I have a feeling that long term wear and scuffs are just going to make the boot look more natural, as long as you take care of the leather.

The heel and platform are high. I’m use to high heels. B after a full day of work and then going out at night my feet did hurt at the end of it but not nearly as much as if I had wore the same height heel of a lesser quality boot/shoe. The rubber bottom really helps. For the height of this boot they are very comfy. And incredibly stable. Sometimes I feel like I’m teetering when I walk down a flight of stairs in tall heels but these are rock solid.

Like I already said, I’m a klutz. So I was a bit worried because these buttons really stand off the leather. I thought that I was going to have a button knocked off in no time. These babies aren’t going ANYWHERE. Ever. They are so solidly sewn in I’m willing to bet these will never come off unless you’re trying. The zipper is top quality.

Driving in them was a bit of an adjustment due to the heel/platform and the stiffness of the leather. But again, the stiffness should go away with wear. I also had to get use to the fact that the sole does not bend at all. Minor inconveniences. I bought these in slate and the original product picture did not accurately display the color of the leather but when I zoomed in on the picture it showed me the correct color. I’m not sure how accurate this is for the other colors but I thought I’d just put that out there.

These are attention grabbers. Be prepared for strangers to approach you about them. Be prepared for shoe loving coworkers to seethe with jealousy. Even my guy friends say my boots are really interesting (In a good way) and they like them. Even though they are tight on me, everyone says the fit looks fantastic. I look forward to having these boots for years to come.

Seamed Nylon Stockings

February 23rd, 2010 by fryeboots

Seamed nylon stockings did very well after the end of the 2nd world war because women then were very conservative. Long skirts were the fashion trend and this was the only accessory available for the bottoms.

Years later, short and tight skirts hit the market and changed everything. Manufacturers who once thought this was over had to produce this in large quantities again to accommodate the needs of the market.

Shirley of Hollywood has a nice pair of seamed nylon stockings that women would enjoy having on. This goes from the feet up to a few inches above the knee, which can be strapped, to the underwear.

This costs $4.95 each. The customer can choose from black, white, red, pink, pearl and royal. Knowing the size of the hips will make the selection easier when getting a pack from the store or online.

Those who want to go for class even for hosiery can get one from Christian Dior. It has various selections like the kind that has a line in the center of the leg that goes from front to back.

This model is made of 100% nylon and has a 15 denier non-stretch yarn. It has this in nude/black, black/black, turquoise/black and burgundy black. The individual has the choice to wear this with a garter strap or not to keep it up.

This kind of seamed nylon stocking is quite expensive fetching for $20 a piece. This is very durable and dries easily after washing so this can be used again and again.

Seamed nylon stockings come in different styles and colors. Those who are a bit conservative can get something thick to avoid revealing the legs while women who want to show if off can go for a thinner version.

The world of fashion changes so people have to adapt to the kind of seamed nylon stockings to wear underneath. The general rule for wearing seamed nylon stockings is that this should match with the outfit on top.

Those that are unaware of the new lines can ask the sales clerk for a catalog that is given for free or check if the manufacturer has a website. Staying informed will make it easy for the person to select what kind of seamed nylon stockings next time when going to work or just having a night out in the town.

After all, it is sometimes about the woman’s taste and how well can the person carry herself when wearing a pair of seamed nylon stockings.

Jeans Trends 2008 – Outlook is Confusing

February 22nd, 2010 by fryeboots

All those empire-waist gowns and tops that looked so stylish not so long ago suddenly have turned into the fashion equivalent of pumpkins, morphing from au courant to out-of-date as quickly as the New Year’s clocks chimed 12. Or so say northern hemisphere trend-watchers.

The high-waisted “baby-doll” look, which topped most must-have lists in early 2007, is one of several trends predicted to take a tumble early in 2008.

On the way out are micro-miniskirts, shapeless tunics and extremely low-rise jeans, according to several boutique owners. Those styles will be replaced by fitted tops, belted dresses and trousers with higher waistbands.

If we consult with the jeans gurus, the verdict is in: the storm of froth and frills has subsided; in it’s wake is the cool, fresh look of glammed-up mod minimalism and tailored shabby chic

“Green” fashions made from eco-friendly materials such as bamboo were big in 2007. They will be huge in ‘08, predicts a buyer for a large American department store.

Fashion leaders are less certain about 2008 trends for jeans styles. Fashion people are still debating the subject with purchase managers and sales clerks. Where jeans are concerned, however, trends don’t count for much. The most stylish jeans are not the widest or narrowest; they’re the ones that fit the best.

Here’s a refresher of some common denim jeans styles. They are sometimes referred to when looking at the fit of a pair of jeans:

Carpenter pants or jeans- These have a loose fit through the seat and thigh. They have a side pocket tools. Usually used for cell phones and cash. These can have the painters hammer loop sometimes as well.
Cargo pants or jeans- Two large gear pockets with flap closure situated just above and to the side of the knees. Loose fit through the seat and thigh.
Painters pant or jeans- These have a loose fit through the seat and thigh. They have a loop for a hammer on the side just below the hip.
Loose fit- Made to be worn low on the hips or size down for a slimmer look- loose through seat and thigh.
Relaxed fit- Has an easy fit through the seat and thigh- roomy but not baggy.
Original or Regular fit- Sits at the waist and has a straight fit through the seat and thigh.
Skinny fit- Sits below the waist and is very narrow and has a slim leg.
Slim fit- Slightly narrower at the seat and thigh than original fit.
Slouch jeans- An eased fit that sits low on the hips.
Boy cut jeans- Relaxed fit for women.
